Q:
What is the Optimist Club and what do
you do?
A:
The motto of all Optimist Clubs is "Friend Of Youth." Optimist Clubs are
civic organizations
located in communities of all sizes and in many
countries. Optimist Clubs are affiliated with
Optimist International which is headquartered in
St. Louis.
Through fundraising events and volunteering time
the Optimist Club donates money and
humanpower in an attempt to reach the youth of
our community to influence them in positive
ways. We donate to charitable and community
organizations, individual youths and causes,
and sponsor sports, oratorical and essay competitions
for boys and girls of various ages. This
is done to help them grow as individuals, give them
a sense of self-respect, to make them feel
a part of the community and to just have fun.
